Thomas Hodgman
males: 1 10-14, 1 40-49
females: 1 10-14, 1 30-39
2 people employed in agriculture
Comments: I have identified Thomas Hodgman as male, aged 40-49, Thomas Hodgman (Oliver, Benjamin, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), aged 44, Fred Hodgman's no. 63, p. 64. The female aged 30-39 is Thomas's wife Esther Shedd. They were married 3 March 1825. The male aged 10-14 is their son Ransom Hodgman, aged 14. The female aged 10-14 is their daughter Mahala Hodgman.

William S. Hodgman
males: 1 0-4, 1 5-9, 1 30-39
females: 2 30-39, 1 70-79
no employment specified
Comments: William S. Hodgman might be the son of William Hodgman (Nathan, Joseph, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), Fred Hodgman's no. 82, p. 83, based on the location of No. 82 in Senaca Falls, NY, which is 30 miles from Monroe County, NY. However, William S. Hodgman is between 30-39, placing his birth year as 1800 - 1810, seven years before Sarah, presumably the first born of no. 82. I find no other candidates in Fred Hodgman.

Daniel Hodgman
males: 1 30-39
females: 1 0-4, 1 20-29
1 employed in commerce
1 employed in manufactures and trade
Comments: I have identified Daniel Hodgman as male, aged 30-39, Daniel Hodgman (Reuben, Reuben, Benjamin, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), aged 31, (only 45 in 1860), Fred Hodgman's no. 127, p. 128. The female aged 20-29 is Daniel's wife, Margaret DeFrate, aged 25 (50 in 1860). The female 0-4 is their daughter Josephine DeFrate Hodgman, born 31 October 1839. Daniel was the founder of the Hodgman Rubber Company; see http://www.hodgman.com/.

Edward Hodgman
males: 2 30-39

Daniel Hodgman
males: 1 5-9, 1 10-14, 1 15-19, 1 40-49
females: 2 0-4, 1 10-14, 1 15-20, 1 30-39
2 persons employed in agriculture
Comments: I suspect Daniel Hodgman is the male aged 40-49, the son of Samuel Hodgman (Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), aged 43, Fred Hodgman's no. 39, p.40. The female aged 30-39 is his wife Mary Rotnour, aged 39. The 1860 NY census lists Daniel, Mary, and three children aged 20, 17, and 10. Thus, one of the females aged 0-4 may be Harriet Hodgman, newborn.

David Hodgman

1 person employed in manufactures and trades
Comments: I suspect David Hodgman is the male aged 20-29, the son of Samuel Hodgman (Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), Fred Hodgman's no. 39, p. 40. Could he be D. Hodgeman, Ward 18,District 3, New York City, 1860 census, the wealthy merchant?

Lafayette, Onondaga, New York
Amos Hodgman
males: 1 30-39
females: 1 0-5, 1 30-39
Comments: I suspect Amos Hodgman is the male aged 30-39, the son of Samuel Hodgman (Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), aged 30 (50 in 1860 census), Fred Hodgman's no. 39, p. 40. The female aged 30-39 I assume is Amos's wife. The female aged 0-4 is their daughter Lucy Hodgman, aged 4. Amos Hodgman is incorrectly listed in the Jackson index as Amos Hogdman.

females: 1 5-9, 3 20-29, 1 40-49
3 people employed in agriculture
Comments: I have identified Isaac Hodgman as Isaac Hodgman (Amos, Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), Fred Hodgman no. 95, p. 96. Per Bruce Hodgman, his first wife (here) is Anna. Fred Hodgman lists four daughters and no sons for this family: Melinda, Amanda, Maria, and Hannah.

1 person employed in agriculture
Comments: I have identified Leonard Hodgman as one the males aged 40-49, Leonard Hodgman (Amos, Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Thomas), aged 48, Fred Hodgman no. 96, p. 97. Leonard's wife is Janette Morey, aged 47, and is the female aged 40-49. Leonard's brother James Hodgman, aged 46, is living with the family in the 1860 census and is likely to be the other male aged 40-49 here. The rest of the residents were Leonard and Janette's children, as follows. The two males aged 20-29 were two of the three following: Lansing Derrick Hodgman, aged 24, James Harvey Hodgman, aged 22, and Thomas Morey Hodgman, aged 20. Perhaps one had moved away from home by 1840, although none were married by then. The male aged 15-19 was Warren Stone Hodgman, aged 15. The males aged 10-14 were Isaac Henry Hodgman, aged 13 and Leonard Hodgman, aged 11. The female aged 5-9 was Mary Jane Hodgman, aged 9.
