Louis and Clark followed the Missouri River from what is now Kansas City to north of Sioux City. I-29 follows the Missouri here and commemorates the path with "Louis and Clark Trail" signs like the one here.
It was in the 90s again and we could see mirages on the highway.

We arrived home at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, 45 minutes ahead of schedule. We drove 2860.7 miles on the Voyager odometer, traveled 2911.5 miles on the Magellan GPS, in 11 days 3 hours 23 minutes or 265:23 hours:minutes.
