Olympic Torch Relay Kansas City - May 16, 1996

On Thursday, May 16, the Atlanta 1996 Olympics Torch Relay came through Kansas City. It was day 20 of the torch relay.

We went less than a mile from our house to 86th and Lamar to reach the the torch route. Lamar is a residential through-street in Overland Park, Kansas and is normally very quiet. That day, it was lined with on-lookers.

Starting with a Coca-Cola truck, we had almost half an hour of parade vehicles - trucks, highway patrol and police cars, and police motorcycles before the torch came. This truck came right before the runner.

The runner came by at 4:45 PM. He looks like he is having a wonderful time.
